yes, you have to pay to go there, and they pack in way too many people at once.
you pretty much walk through the canyon as if you were queuing to get in there.

it is also good that they it this way, it lets a lot more people experience it first hand. the wave for example is the complete opposite.

when I went there last fall, it wasn't like that. groups of 5-10 with a guide, and they space them out far enough that your group has a whole section of the canyon to youtselves. it started as a covid policy, but they kept it because it's great for photo taking and the like. I actually quite like that they do it that way, crowds ruin the experience for me.
