Very famous location but 99% of photos are crap and yours will stand out in the 1%.

You did an amazing job at getting the location depth and a new perspective

Just hang around /r/VisitingIceland for awhile. You’ll get all the poorly-composed broad daylight cellphone photos of this spot you could possible handle.

I went to Vik a few years back. It was such a big dot on the map, I was expecting a small city. But it's so tiny, like 10 houses or so, it was kind of funny as we were not expecting that . Absolutely beautiful place, I still dream of Iceland regularly.

Ok, was wondering how obnoxious I would be for saying its actually Vík í Mýrdal. But then I see someone writing it as Vic. Our towns are not named after italian gangsters.

Accidental_Ouroboros t1_j6y783a wrote

For anyone wondering, Vík means bay. Which is a really nonspecific place name by itself.

That said, all the other Vík placenames in Iceland have Vík come after (Reykjavík, Húsavík, Grindavík, etc) so when you say Vík... you probably mean Vík í Mýrdal.

Definitely not Vic. Vík is a root for Viking.

Lalli-Oni t1_j6y7tlb wrote

Yeah, Vík is most likely Vík í Mýrdal. But we have heard of people putting in Laugavegur (main shopping street in Reykjavík) and ending up on the other side of the country. Like 400-500km away.

We visited there in May a few years ago. I have never been colder than I was that day. But it was so beautiful. Not to be missed.

You are telling me this isn’t Majula from Dark Souls II? Lol

Also very impressive photography. Beautiful photo, perfectly captures the colouring and setting.

The waves look like plateus. It throws the whole perspective in such a fun way. It becomes otherworldly even if you know this place. Hope you had a good time.

What keeps me going in this world is that if I keep working hard I will get enough money some day to travel around the world, especially to places like these and take my own pictures.

Gorgeous shot, and I bet you had to bear with the awful wind there for a while to get it, which makes it even more awesome.

Have you shared it on Twitter by any chance? I'd love to RT and share it with my friends there.
