I liked it better when it was Hyde island.

I've lived in Atlanta for 34 years and have never been there. Savannah and Hilton Head many times. I always zip to the Gulf coast of Florida when I want a beach, but I should definitely check out Jekyll one day.

Live in the mountains just above ATL and the wife and I visit SSI and Jekyll multiple times a year. Most definitely amazing.

I’m at the Brunswick airport heading home from a week in SSI. It’s one of my favorite places.

Palmer’s in the village has the best breakfast. The banana pudding pancakes are delicious.

Spent my honeymoon and then my 10th anniversary there. Hopefully it doesn't take us another 10 years to get back. One of my favorite spots on the planet.

I too love driftwood beach but Jekyll Island is ok there is so many other beautiful beaches in this area that don’t require a fee to visit

Yes yes everyone will say here that Jekyll is beautiful but I find the water to be very silty since the island is pretty much a marsh.
Don't get me wrong, I love the beaches in Georgia but I agree there are a lot of pretty beaches and parks along the east coast that don't require money to get on.

I will say that two things I do love about Jekyll are the club and the annual Christmas lights. Very beautiful and when the club is lit up during Christmas it looks amazing.

16 months, I had relatives there. I was curious about lingering trash and oil pollution ?

Always nice to see pictures of home pop up on my feed, the beaches on the island are so pretty! They were definitely nicer a few years ago before one of the larger hurricanes messed up a lot of the trees, but still stunning to walk along 💖

Are there any other places like this near Hilton Head/Myrtle Beach that are relatively easy to get to by car? I'm aware of Boneyard Beach, but the dates for the boat don't suit. I'll be in the area for about 3 weeks from early March.

I absolutely love Jekyll Island. But I hate when it’s talked about, because I don’t want it to get overloaded with tourists and have its charm disappear.

If you squint, you can see the Creature from Jekyll Island out at sea. It's just like the Loch Ness Monster-totally made up, Lol.
