This image is from Hocking Hills in southeastern Ohio, an amazing state park with tons of cool places to explore. I sat on this image for over a year to make sure I did the moment justice!

That is a great write up. Thank you for sharing! I grew up 10 miles down the road from here and it’s photos like this one that most pull me back to my childhood and memories I didn’t know I still had. I’m glad to have stumbled upon your work.

Thank you for the kind words, and your comment about home makes this image worth all the effort. I love photography’s ability transport us to different places and times and you just provided the perfect example of that. So thank you. Made my day already!

Great shot. I like the contrast of the environment outside of the cave/vs inside. Really cool capture.

Incredible shot. Did you use a wide angle lens?

Yes, and a panorama. The scale of this place is MASSIVE! That fallen rock on the right is well over 10 ft tall.

I loved the contrast from inside the cave to the world outside.

Really well done. Framing, tones, detail and sense of scale are perfectly imparted.

Feels like I'm standing there alone on that quiet winter morning.

I love that! Thank you, for sharing. It’s an amazing place. Normally really crowded but the snow kept some folks away.

The Rock House is my favorite spot to shoot there, but I also love Ash Cave. Need to get back there sometime.

One of my favorite places. We always go in the fall but apparently it’s even better in the winter!

It’s funny you say that, some early excavations in the area found evidence of pretty large fires from the Shawnee Indians and was later used for smelting I believe.
