I think I agree with you! But unfortunately as this was taken with my phone, and I've since changed phones, I don't have the original anymore :( and no, I wasn't smart enough to back up my pics..

Ooh, I was there in November, where it was beautiful reds and yellows, clearly I need to go back again to see the spring colours.

Very harsh exposure/contrast. Would work well on a 90’s grunge album but takes away the delicate beauty of hanami.

The worse the editing is, the more upvotes it gets. Also, if you take 15 seconds to make a super basic animation in motionleap you'll go straight to the top of /r/woahdude.

I'm going to Japan for the first time ever this March. I'm so excited to see everything and go to the Sakura festival, it looks so beautiful!

I’m in Japan right now and saw some early blooming Sakura and I was in awe as to how beautiful it actually was in person!! I totally get the hype now
GTAdriver1988 t1_ja81m2p wrote
Yea I hear it's beautiful. There's a Sakura festival in philly that I've been to but I hear in Japan it's so much better, I'll be in Iwakuni during the festival there. I wanted to see the Kintai bridge anyway so I'll kill two birds with one stone then!

You’re gonna have an amazing time!!! Tomorrow is my last day here after 2.5 weeks and I don’t want to leave, it’s been the best vacation ever!! Enjoy!!

If you are going for the cherry blossoms and get the opportunity, take the Shinkansen up to Aomori Prefecture and go the Hirosaki Castle. The actual Cherry Blossom Festival isn't until late April but it's still an amazing place to visit. I was stationed in Aomori Prefecture for 3+ years and there is an incredible amount uncommon tourist stuff to see there. Lake Towada is a lake formed by a huge volcanic blast that is ringed by hotels, onsens, and walking paths and was very cheap to visit. Cape Shiryazaki is a section of beautiful coast with wild horses, cliffs/unique rock formations, and a light house. It honestly looks like it belongs in Ireland, not Japan. While driving to these places there are cool little roadside produce stands and shrines everywhere. When I first got stationed in Japan I was really bummed that I wasn't in Tokyo but when I left I couldn't have imagined having been anywhere else other than Aomori.

FYI, sakura is a flowering cherry tree.
PleaseBeginReplyWith t1_ja9pmu1 wrote
Is it not any cherry blossom?
OneLostOstrich t1_jaa58qp wrote
Well, it's defined as the tree in bloom, but I'm not sure if you're more correct than I am or not. Is it the blossoms or is it the tree in bloom? I don't know. You could be right.
PleaseBeginReplyWith t1_jaa64k3 wrote
Oh kinda both I guess. I thought you meant trees that do not set fruit.
Technorasta t1_jabgwgm wrote
It’s the blossoms, cherry blossoms.
Geoponics t1_ja89zxp wrote
Might be ume rather than sakura?
sannis_zoo OP t1_ja8hvk3 wrote
Ah! I was fairly certain it was a cherry tree when I was there but now your comment has made me doubt my tree ID...
Technorasta t1_jabha3y wrote
I took some photos of some supposed ume blossoms last weekend (they do come in many colors, as do sakura), but they sure look like sakura to me and about 50% of the people I show them too. BTW, the peach blossoms are a deep pink too.

The road between Magome and Tsumago has to be one of my favorite places in Japan, no matter the season. Feels like it hasn't changed in 100s of years.

Agreed, it's a great hike.
It's still the same Nakasendo the samurai hiked along during the Edo period.

When the giant sakura tree at my grandma's house finally had to be cut down (was split at the stem, due to parasite infection, i was really sad.
It was gigantic and for some days after the bloom it was just as if nature has it's own confetti party.
chickwithabrick t1_jaa2bjc wrote
Honestly I really like it with the editing, but I'm looking at it as more of an artistic piece as opposed to a 100% real photo. Like others have said I think it would make a great album cover!
