It was recently reported that Venezuela started using AI avatars to also spread propaganda. I guess this is our new reality.
In the Venezuelan case, the government contracted the startup Synethesia to create news cast videos using American AI avatars that talk about how well the Venezuelan economy was doing, and also promoting tourist spots. They posted the videos to Youtube under the "House of News" channel but I believe they've been taken down by now.
I can only imagine what's going to happen here in the US leading up to the 2024 election. There's no regulation on AI right now. The best we can all do is stay informed.

I'm a principal engineer at a tech company and truly in my entire career have never seen any technology get integrated as quickly as AI is right now. Just think in the last few weeks, you have SnapChat, Discord, Spotify, Shopify, Duolingo, Stripe, HubSpot, Salesforce with Slack, etc. all wrapping OpenAI.

Because of all the hype, I became obsessed with discerning real value and opportunities from the noise / hype around it, and started writing an email that gets published weekdays at 6:30 AM EST called GPT Road . It summarizes the latest news in AI in bullet point format so its easy to read. Please feel welcomed to join if you or anyone else is interested. There's no ads, as I'm not making nay money off of it. And its a small community, not 10,000+ people (only about ~360 readers).

The objective is to keep people who are interested informed in the latest updates in AI, because the tech is being dropped so quickly on society, and there's absolutely no regulation around it. Truly mind blowing.
