How long until the leader becomes super racist like those other twitter chatbots?

fluentindothraki t1_is6pkdc wrote

Or super leftist like the Reddit one?

ChaseballBat t1_is6r0b1 wrote

I don't recall that one! I'll have to look it up.

fluentindothraki t1_is6uawg wrote

I can't find it now...but after the MS chatbot turned racist, there was an AI trained on Reddit (not Norman, obv) who was pretty Marxist and in favour of legalising weed. Or maybe I dreamed that?

edit: slipped into the wrong languagge

I want to live in a world where a chatbot becoming racist is not seen as the equivalent to chatbot supporting shared ownership of resources and legal weed

Lets pretend Marxism doesnt have a history start with Marx himself.

Weed being legalized? What's next? Happiness and fun being easily accessible to reduce the likelyhood of drug abuse? Get the heck outta here.

I imagine a world where neighbors don't call the police on children playing in the street.

I think it would be more applicable if they created a magic 8 ball leader.

>The Synthetic Party, a new Danish political party with an artificially intelligent representative and policies derived from AI, is eyeing a seat in parliament as it hopes to run in the country’s November general election.

>The party was founded in May by the artist collective Computer Lars and the non-profit art and tech organization MindFuture Foundation. The Synthetic Party’s public face and figurehead is the AI chatbot Leader Lars, which is programmed on the policies of Danish fringe parties since 1970 and is meant to represent the values of the 20 percent of Danes who do not vote in the election. Leader Lars won't be on the ballot anywhere, but the human members of The Synthetic Party are committed to carrying out their AI-derived platform.

>Leader Lars is an AI chatbot that people can speak with on Discord. You can address Leader Lars by beginning your sentences with an “!”. The AI understands English but writes back to you in Danish.

TheDailyOculus t1_is9zcmz wrote

It's tough. I have an old draft for a story where people are building a mega-structure around the sun to harvest energy. Then I happened upon the concept "Dyson sphere" and binned it.

When I was little I thought of a theory timeline splitting at each action and there being multiple timelines each containing what would have happened if it went that specific way. Then I saw many worlds interpretation.

Write it anyways your interpretation and characters are what matter in the story

Why would you bin it??? Just because it’s scientifically possible, it doesn’t make it any less cool.

TheDailyOculus t1_isahy94 wrote

Well, I was kinda happy with my new invention, and then when I realized it was hypothesized already in the 60s/70s (or whenever), I kinda lost that spark to keep writing it. I might have also lost it when my old computer crashed...

The story involved a space race between the usual state actors, a female engineer surviving malicious sabotage on the Mars-sol plasma relay station, and one unknown outside force...

Well.. you should write it. Single ideas won’t be the success of the novel, it is how you present it and how good is your writing.

I prefer a decentralized autonomous organization focused party over a chatbot. A digital avatar controlled by blockchain voting seems like a more serious attempt at retaking democracy.

Makes sense. Just program it with what you believe in and how that applies to different issues, as I’m sure they did. Pretty much the same thing as a regular person with their own viewpoints, except the AI has to actually show their work (logic/debate) and can’t choose to be a narcissist or psychopath or whatever like a lot of people (at least in the US) are.

Just a heads up, they are not a party yet. They need to gather enough support to get into parliment and even then, they will be such a small minority that they have no real say.

The article is almost a nothing burger.
