My wife and I are currently reading Eon by Greg Bear. The book seems lot more prescient in light of all that’s going on right now.

I started reading novels out loud to my wife in the evenings about five years ago and haven’t looked back. We’ve read quite a few books in that time.

It’s only weird if you make it weird. Society at large used to be run on verbal storytelling. It’s only been very recently that humanity as a whole has gotten away from being mostly verbal storytellers. We do this instead of watching TV and have discovered it’s far more intimate.

Of course it would.

Though, while Russia demonstrated that it has a capability, there are strong doubts on Russia's ability to maintain that capability.

China does have more capability to do so but so does the United States on a much larger scale. And just like with MAD and the threat of the use of nuclear weapons during the Cold War with the Soviet Union, the Chinese government is just as susceptible to the vulnerabilities of a space war as the United States.

Though, if it gets to that level of type of warfare, the situation on the ground is already much worse that it won't make much difference of the immediate effects.

If you look at it from Russia’s perspective in a decade of sanctions they will be bordering on Stone Age and have nothing to lose.

If the rumors are true about Putin's health, it won't take a decade before change comes in Russia.

The concern will be that with all the control he's had, there will definitely be a vacuum created for control.
