My opinion is that “consciousness” is not a single thing but is actually a small number of states, or ways of thinking. Your consciousness while singing a song is different from your consciousness while planning a road trip. Any attempt to define it as a single thing will fail.

I very much agree. People view ‘consciousness’ like it’s some mysterious organ, when in reality it’s more like a reinforced feedback loop of system-interactions
