Exactly. That's why you can estimate a person's poverty level based solely upon their zip code to an almost perfect degree. You can try all you want but not everyone can succeed, in fact most cannot.

Leaving the zip code of my childhood was extremely difficult but as soon as I did my opportunities grew dramatically. I now make 50% more while doing about a 1/3 of the work.
