He tried them. One of my favorite quotes of his relates to that…

"If you get the message, hang up the phone. For psychedelic drugs are simply instruments like microscopes, telescopes and telephones. The biologist does not sit with eye permanently glued to the microscope, he goes away and works on what he has seen."- Alan Watts

The followup should be no one is under any obligation to continue to dig your unreliable, unpredictable ass. I think this quote is freeing /liberating but Ive met some real doozies that it also perfectly describes. “Dont feel trapped” is a nice interpretation, but this could easily read “accountability isnt important.”

Worth noting this dude had 7 kids with 3 wives (while continuing an ongoing affair with a 4th). Drank heavily… Not 100% sure you want him as a role model. If the quote frees you from a heavy burden tho - it def has a nugget of truth to it.

I think a lot of value is brought from people reconciling the shitty situations they find themselves in. Like you said nuggets of truth aka what relates to you when you feel stuck or lost

Really? Huh, "ladies and gentlemen, this is the captain, I just wanted to remind everyone that myself and the FO are under no obligation to be the same people we were five minutes ago so we will be joining everyone in back for a round of shots while this bird lands itself."

Is that why she keeps on changing her mind about everything?

Unless this is figurative, in the sense of : "I just heard the most amazing thing and I am no longer the person I was five minutes ago." Otherwise, I don't have time for your jackassery.
