Not only do people change as they age, but you also need to take into account amnesia, alter egos, supernatural possession (implying this is not possibly is supernatural-ist), and hypnotism.
So the premise is flimsy at best.

No it's not. You still have to love yourself through all of that. In fact if all that is happening you only have to love harder. The statement holds and will.

I 100% agree on that.
I just disagreed with the claim that we are always the same person.
The human condition is already bad enough, so we have to leverage the tools we have in order to make the best of it.
Moderate hedonism is the best approach.
