By reading between the lines, the quote is not implying to keep trying to do the same thing everytime for some desired result. Rather no matter how many times you have fallen, one has to continue to rise up, because you have no other option. That it takes courage and grit to keep getting up.

I tried doing that with friends but doesn't work no matter, i had to change myself to be likable, "be yourself everyone else is taken" or "be yourself and you will be happier" is rather a lie nowadays
