I'm starting to move as well. I'm concentrating first on making a diet plan, then I'll think about jogging or walking.

What changes did you make to get in so many steps? How are you feeling?

Everyday after work I do a walk till I'm over 10,000, plus at least once a week I do a walk up in the hills (most of my city is flat). I have always enjoyed walking but let life get in the way, trying to make it a standard part of my day now

When I ran xc in high school I had the Pokémon step counter that connected to Pokémon heart gold and soul silver after our practice I would have like 20k steps every day and that’s my only frame of reference

So for me, 10,000 steps is approximately 8km or 5 miles, a few websites seem to use the following figures to describe activity levels though I would dispute the highly active term as that should be higher in my mind

  • Sedentary is less than 5,000 steps per day
  • Low active is 5,000 to 7,499 steps per day
  • Somewhat active is 7,500 to 9,999 steps per day
  • Active is more than 10,000 steps per day
  • Highly active is more than 12,500
