I moved from Worcester to greater Hartford area 2 years ago. Quality of life here in CT is good. I found a comparable job for a significant raise with my cost of living decreasing as well. But CT I still an expensive place to live. Hartford has been improving over the last few years and seems to be attracting more young people. Things like Parkville Market are fun, and bring a community together. Number of breweries in the Hartford/West Hartford region that are worth checking out too. New Park being the best IMO. City Steam doesn’t get the respect it deserves. Their beer may not be the best craft beer in the area but they and Thomas Hooker brewing were the first. They pioneered the CT craft beer scene and still sling some solid beers. Food at city steam is decent too!

I went to school in Worcester and lived there for two years after and then spent two years in west Hartford. I think that Worcester and Hartford are very similar. Both around the same size, have a minor league baseball team, and a lot of colleges in the area. Worcester gets significantly more snow though.

I think I liked the restaurants in Worcester more but Hartford has happy hour which is nice. I wasn’t around for the Woo Sox but the Hartford yard goats games are a lot of fun.

It’s like Worcester but with less stuff. But not, like, no stuff…

I've lived in the west end of Hartford for about 4-5 years now (27M), and I love it.

There has been a really big boom in new restaurants and bars in the past few years as a lot of people have begun to move into the city. There is also the baseball stadium and some great venues for music.

Also being in the center of the state means you are close enough to pretty much everywhere else in the state, so you can explore nearby towns too.

Downtown can be a little dead sometimes, but it's still a lot of fun, and west Hartford is pricey but a great spot to go.

Overall, it's not perfect, but it's pretty nice.

I grew up in northeast CT. Worcester is bigger, but Hartford has a nicer suburbs with stuff going on. The greater Hartford area is a lovely place to live but

Better than Worcester because it is quite a bit closer to New York City. You have pretty easy access to NYC plus all of the areas around it that are the most diverse and wealthiest parts of the country, including the Fairfield, New Haven, Hudson Valley areas.

I mean comparing NYC to Boston is like comparing Toronto or Montreal to, like, Winnipeg or something.

Worcester and Hartford are both kind of lacking in terms of their downtowns proper, but you are very close to cities and towns that have more vibrancy and street life, especially New Haven, but also places like WeHa.

Where in Massachusetts? If it is Springfield I’m sure you’ll find it to be very similar. If it is Boston then don’t expect Hartford to nearly match it.
