Okay! Then why is there a State tax on the income? Those funds can be used to keep infrastructure in good shape too.

I feel like they don't have tolls, and if they do- it's not a state where tourism is also considered as a source of income. People usually like to stay in the summers here.

I used to see funk bands play there in the 90s, and I tended bar there in the early 2k's right after they reopened from redevelopment in the area. Haven't been back there since '08, and I don't get downtown much these days. Thanks for the update!

Yup, still open!

They closed The Blind Pig next door, my husband worked there, but Arch St. Tavern's part of the building is owned separately than where Blind Pig was and had stayed open. It just looks deceiving driving by and seeing the for sale sign for Blind Pig's side. There's a connecting roof, and a main wall separating the two places, so not everyone realizes they're actually separately owned! The owner of Blind Pig's side is selling, but the owner of Arch St Tavern's isn't, and instead stayed open.

I second The Webster Underground! I know The Webster itself is still open, I drive by nearly daily, so 9 out of 10 The Underground still is as well. (I'll look next time I drive by and edit my comment to lyk.) I dunno if you're familiar with CT, but The Webster is a smaller venue (not best neighborhood unfortunately) that, as a music fan, is phenomenal to see bands at! They've had some big names play there over the years, off hand I'd have to say the best show I've seen there was Jerry Cantrell's (from Alice in Chains) solo tour.

The Underground is next door to The Webster, same building, just smaller than it's already small sibling! That's where a lot of more popular local bands play. I had a friend whose band played shows there quite a bit in the mid to late 2000's. I'm not a performer, so I wouldn't know, but at least he always spoke highly of the venue.

Hope this helps! 🤘
