Why do you return to "civilization"?

Thank you for the “ “! It is tricky finding the wording to describe that way of life versus others! I knew I wasn’t going to stay forever, just to learn and help. For both people it just kinda came to a natural point where I’d either need to move on or become a full member of their society and stay. I was also a woman of a marriageable age, and didn’t want to go down that road because I didn’t want to stay forever. It was lovely but didn’t feel like home.

"A woman of marriageable age" haha I love it! I can totally see the way it wouldn't feel like home. For me, going into a society like this sounds so appealing it would almost definitely be a one-way trip. Having read accounts from Ben Franklin of people choosing to live with the natives in the wilderness, they mostly wouldn't return, and if forced, would find a way to go back to the natives. Yeah, finding the right words to talk about the different societies is difficult lol. Thanks for the insight!!
