For no discernible reason I always get a little bit lost when telling this joke，but I lke how easy to understand/tell this version is. Cheers!

I think this version is a bit more convoluted because of the details. The version I heard skipped following scents and the dachshund completely.

Two guys out walking their dogs decided they want to grab a bit to eat and go to the local restaurant. First guy with golden retriever walks up, claims it is his guide dog, all cool. Second guy tries getting in, claims it is his guide dog, owner says, "how could a chihuahua be a guide dog" yadda yadda
