The man asks: “how many partners have you had before meeting me?” . His wife thinks and a few seconds later answers: “ I have been with maybe 4 or 5 before you. What about you” she then asks her husband. Seconds, and minutes go by and no answers. “Are you sleeping” she asks, slightly annoyed. The husband answers: “nope, still counting”.

Good question. The joke is about one partner only having been with a few people, whilst the other has been many. I am criticizing the fact that, according to the original commenter, the joke is funnier and more realistic if we make the woman to be more the more promiscuous (sluttier) of the two.
