"go to settings": Do you mean the dashboard?
Under My filters there is nothing about Annoyances. Can you include a screen shot?
Same here...just two other options, "Import and Append" & "Export"?
It's actually"filter lists". My bad.
Yes I meant the dashboard. There will be a "filter lists" tab on the top. If you scroll down you'll see a section called "Annoyances". You have to tick all of them and apply changes.
Could you clarify? Me and another person who responded don't see anything called annoyances?
Or you can use "idon'tcareaboutcookies". Problem solved
Yeah of course! I use ublock origin anyway and I wanted to block cookie popups without a separate extension.
It's been bought by Avast. Instantly uninstalled. At least the dev had the decency to actually say that.
Uggg if this is true.
Luckily I have a whole house adblocking DNS setup, but it won't get Youtube ads so ublock is still on all of the PCs.
Great recommendation. I had to install this addon because Ublock is designed for blocking, not to auto-accept cookie stuff. So in some cases, Ublock hid the banners, but then scrolling didn't work on the website, etc. Much less painful with the "I don't care about cookies" addon.
Or just use brave browser and turn on the built-in adblocker. Works on the mobile version too.
Go to Settings then Filter lists, NOT My filters. Annoyances is at the bottom. That's the only place I could find it.

but I like cookie croissants
I just assume if I'm blocking that pop up the website behaves as if I accepted. Am I wrong?
No, this is the equivalent of removing the entire element from the site, minus their ability to know if you clicked an option and which you clicked. In theory, if the default is "no cookies unless they accept the prompt" then that is what you get. I don't actually legally know which way we lean at this point as a collective.
If it only was available for safari
what about for iphone users
Works on all major browsers on which ublock origin can be installed.
wtf do cookies even do lol
Cookies are a way of identifying you on the web. As you browse the web, they can track your activity and send it to various ad companies.
damn so they don’t even benefit me? Yeah im declining from now on

For so many reasons ublock origin is a better idea for blocking untrusted 3rd party content & 1st party annoyances than many others.
A point that should be noted is that soon because of chrome adopting their Manifest V3 API, adblockers on chrome based browsers will become far less effective, at the benefit of becoming faster & more secure.
If the aim is effectiveness then using ublock origin on a non-chrome based browser, Firefox for example is suggested.
