I hate cleaning that film on the base and it just dries up and accumulates. I rotate water flossing with flossing so don't do it all the time. The disgusting film reminds me its time to use my flosser and I clean it up. I just point and shoot with the pressure on a high setting.

Obviously this is for people who own both electronics and I'm not recommending mandating either. I like mine, but you don't need to get either.

Bonus- also works for toothpaste clumps in the sink

What is wrong with people? My ex was visibly impressed at how clean I keep my toothbrush. My secret? Every time I use it I take 5 seconds to rinse it clean then dry it on a towel. After I showed her....she never did it once.

I tried that for a bit but then my towel was all gross. And I didn't want to keep changing the towel nor do i have two hand towel rods in my rental.

Huh? If you rinse the brush first, like I said, how is your towel getting "gross"?

I don't believe they'll be able to tell you.

It might take a few hours for the wheels to turn and understand running water can be used to clean or rinse things.

Why not use a couple of sheets of toilet paper and throw them in the loo? No need to flush. You've no excuse for your skanky toothbrush or skanky towel.

You shouldn't be charging your brush everyday, due to lithium ion battery degradation. It is better to just keep it off the charger until it tells you it is low battery and then charge it for a few hours.

Here we go with the crud on the bottom of the electric toothbrush.

Again.

what causes the white film buildup? I recently got an electric toothbrush and figured I must be doing something wrong

I won't pull punches here. Rinse it. It's toothpaste and slobber.

Rinse it. Rinse it and set it down every time you use it and everything will be just fine.
