I assume you’re doing this in Windows. The ALT key will focus on the menu bar in every application in Windows. It is an OS hot key.

There are so many LPTs for excel - one of my favourites is the new window option, which opens a linked copy of your current workbook. If you work in excel documents that have multiple sheets with formulae that pick up values from other/multiple sheets than the one it exists in, a new window means you can see how changing figures on one sheet affect formula results on another sheets live (either with 2 monitors or by using half your monitor for each window).

Don't think Google sheets does this. Next time you're in an excel workbook, hit the alt key then look at the menu bar at the top - numbers will pop up all over it. Hit the number on the keyboard of the option you want. I use this to add keyboard shortcuts for things there aren't one for (like the comma button for formatting numbers nicely and for format painter) by adding them to the top bar (where the save button is) then using alt.
