Many people have not played by the rules and got the prizes even easier that others.

And some days it seems like playing by the rules is a sucker's game.

If you only play by the rules, you become a slave to the system.

I think OP you are going to face a fair amount of resistance with this tip. You have an idealized view of the world and a puerile sense of justice and fair play. In time the world will most certainly cure you of your fantasies.

Many people can't play by the rules due to illness, mental health issues, disabilities, trauma, poverty, etc. etc.

The problem is there are written rules and unwritten rules and certain times and places to use one over the other. Those in power get to decide which is right and we get to hope it turns out okay

Just because there are rules doesn't mean they are applied fairly or evenly or even the same rules in any two situations.

Two people can have massively different reactions for the same actions. One person's quirky friend is another's harassment. Thinking "I did something for them, they now have to like me" is a horrible way to go at life. No one owes you any feelings because you provided some service.

To be promoted at one job you need to prove yourself to be fully competent so the manager can leave you to it, the next you may just need to be buddy buddy with them, the third you may need to be related to the owner. The thing you should be doing is learning what hurdle you need to cross for success in the situation you're in before it's too late and the goal is moved.

The rules you have to follow aren't worth the prize at the end most of the time.

Not playing by the rules gets you those ”prizes” easier.

Consequences may occur however risky you want to be.

And just like a game, the ones that cheat the best often come out on top
