Your movements combined with your pressure against the mattress can result in the neck stretching.

Also, take extreme care if you hang the shirts up. You can slip the hanger in from the bottom to avoid stretching.

wash your clothes always inside out. The wear and tear of the tumbler will only harm the inside that way. And you don't get holes that quickly.
