Nobody checks signatures. All my cards are signed "check ID" and literally nobody has looked or asked in 20 years.

nobody checks signatures..nobody takes the time to go to the original at the bank and check the signature. When u sign at the credit card receipt nobody checks it. Work for a bank and we never check even with important documents...we just requested a notarized copy of the documents.

Let the down votes commence

I just use a different signature every time I sign something. They'll never catch me!

I'd be careful with that.

  1. It technically invalidates your card because they say ”not valid unless signed.” So if you run into the rare merchant who checks the ID they might refuse it for not being signed.

  2. If the person taking the card is unscrupulous, giving them your ID in addition to your card gives them even more info to steal from you.

There was a TIFU post of a guy who one had three cat faces as his driver license signature.

And then he had to take out a mortgage and the bank made him sign a whole ream of paperwork to put in an official signature change.

Can confirm, also work for a bank.

Also if you sign your card, you know what is really easy to do if you're a thief? Figure out how to sign similarly enough.

I'm not saying that everyone my age could forge their parents signature whenever needed or anything lol
