Bottom right - Standing at the foot and facing the bed? Laying on it? On your back or front? So many possibilities!

I don't think I've seen a set with a tag in the corner, but that certainly would be helpful.

I have several that have at least the "top/bottom" ends tagged.

Oh strange! My sheets always have for some reason. Just a tiny one on the inside corner seam. I never noticed until someone told me to look and it works everytime lol. I think I just hate making my bed and anything to help the process go more smoothly is appreciated 😅

My grandma's is in the bottom right/top left (I help her do chores including stripping/washing/replacing the sheets.) But the fitted sheet I use for my bed (same size as hers) actually has it on the bottom left/top right.

I rotate two sheet sets for my king mattress, my tags go on bottom left as well. So unfortunately op advice definitely isn’t universal

No1WrthNoin t1_iy73ssm wrote

A good try, though! And even though it's not actually universal, it's still a good thing to keep in mind. I've twisted my sheets up all sorts of different ways trying to find the right way, undoubtedly repeating sides by mistake. Since my grandma made the choice of "we'll always stick the tag on the bottom right," I've adapted that concept for myself and now only have to try two sides to get it right lol

chammy82 t1_iyay2t6 wrote

Actually LPT: use something like The Bed Scrunchie for the fitted sheet if you're tightening it every morning.

Mental-Lingonberry-5 t1_iy7d5gx wrote

When I first get the sheets and figure out where the tag is (or if there is none, when I figure out which way it goes lol) I put some other kind of indicator at that corner that’s easier to identify right away/from either side/right side or inside out. Say, 5-10 stitches of neon yarn along the seam. Or one of those jingle bells on a safety pin. No more looking for tag :)

Bottom right or left really doesn't matter right?

1

anangrypudge t1_iy7nj2q wrote

I've always done bottom left corner. Always felt that it looked kinda weird but it still fit and I'd always tell myself that next time round, I'll try bottom right.

And the very next time I'd forget what I said and do bottom left again.

1

Seedling132 t1_iy7yjc4 wrote

Here's my trick.

Each corner is stitched together to wrap it around the mattress. Grab the top of the two stitches along one side, and stretch them out against the mattress. If the very end of both stitches when stretched out lines up perfectly with the corners of the mattress, you've got it around the right way.

Source: have had a king bed for about 4 years and I'm pretty much only changing the sheets by myself. The difference in length of each side is barely 2 inches so it almost looks square, but this trick works every time.

You do have to have long enough arms to do it by yourself for a king though.

1

Mustangnut001 t1_iy80357 wrote

You should actually rotate it so it doesn’t wear out. I move my feet a lot while I sleep. I had a sheet wear thin in that section. After replacing it, I always rotate the sheets now.

1

cockmanderkeen t1_iy850j1 wrote

I do the opposite because I don't mind the part of my sheets near my feet being worn out. But I want the rest of me laying on nice pristine sheet.

1

fredsam25 t1_iy8a8ht wrote

Or rotate the sheet so that it wears/stains more evenly for a longer useful life.

1

freerangephoenix t1_iy8b4c1 wrote

Objection. You should rotate it to even out the wear.

1

Zsevern t1_iy8bqje wrote

Also, always start with the hardest corner to access and finish with the easiest to access. That will in sure you got everything fitted well and can pull it taught at the last corner. Keeps it from creeping off in the night 😉

Why not just use a marker and write on the tag?

We have sheets where the tag is bottom right, and some are bottom left. So we invest 4 seconds into writing "BL" or "BR" on the tag.

1

746ata t1_iy94qwi wrote

My king sheets don’t have tags or colored stitches, so when I finally get a set on properly, I use a sharpie to color the seam on the top corner of my side.

1

This isn't true. Or more it's partially true. If it's not fitting in the bottom right, try the top left. If that's not it have fun. If people try your way and expect it all the time, they're gonna be met with disappointment. Source: I'm a housekeeper in a hotel

Averen t1_iy99p5m wrote

Best advice is don’t try to figure it out. You have 50% chance of being right just choose an easy side and quickly put it on and you’ll know right away if you need to rotate. You’ll spend 5x longer just trying to find the tag

1

LaMadreDelCantante t1_iy9f5cd wrote

Just get some with those straps that help hold them in place and then label them with a sharpie. I wrote TL, TR, BL, BR on each one so no matter which one I grab I can just start there.

LPT: buy a custom sized bed, and custom sized sheets. It'll be outrageously expensive, but you can save a few minutes a month when changing your sheets!

3

sunnyflow2 t1_iy6vrxp wrote

Just buy sheets one size up. Slightly droopy but never pops off. Tuck in extra on the sides.

−3

SuspiciousHost1 t1_iy9924l wrote

This is the way to do it - also fits a bigger bed when you get it. A double on single bed makes this trival and even gives you extra to use as a light sheet over yourself in summer.
