The sudden temperature change can slowly warp pans and other cookware over long periods of continued exposure to such extreme conditions. If you have any pans that don’t sit flat on your stove, this is likely the reason why.

So after using a pan, leave it out to air cool and try not to pour water into them while they’re still hot

Equally, if you’re worried about food sticking, put the cookware in very hot dishwasher and wait for it to cool down enough to clean.
