When you crawl into a bed that is neatly neatly made, The sheets and blankets are where they need to be. If you crawl into a messy bed, you'll be fighting the blankets and sheets in the middle of the night trying to get comfortable.

I started doing this recently and I've gotten remarkably better sleep. I toss and turn much less. I don't wake up in the middle of the night cold for lack of covers.

The flip side of this is that making your bed after waking traps dust and other bacteria in your bed. Leaving the bed unmade allows it to air out throughout the day.

I’m not making a bed ever. Hubs and I each have our own comforters. That’s the real life pro tip.

LPT to this LPT... if you suck at making the bed regularly, buy blankets a size bigger than your bed and tuck them under the mattress at the foot. That way you can crawl into a "messy" bed and just yank everything up to your chin; the foot of the bed anchors the blankets, so it's "instamade".

LPT: This is actually not healthy. Making your bed immediately after waking traps in bacteria and moisture. It’s much better to let your bed air out for a couple hours.

So, while it might encourage some positive habits or something, it’s quite disgusting.

Best way is to neatly lay the sheets open during the day. Looks better than completely messy, and is healthier.

This is a pointless waste of time that I'm sick of seeing pushed.

As far as the whole "It starts a routine" rubbish goes, there are plenty of actually useful things you can do first thing in morning that will also start a routine.

This is annoying hustle culture codswallop. Stop it.
