They’re both pretty bad but it does feel like it’s just hard for the head to grip. I’ll try to find a good rubber band and give that a shot!
I've pulled a few stripped screws, and a pair of vice grips can work well if you have enough surface to grab and rotate the screw off - sometimes you just need to get it started.
Drill bit and a ez out. Good luck.
Unfortunately don’t have a drill at hand. It’s my first car in a long time and I don’t wanna hurt my baby lol.

I just went through this, make sure you have good contact with the screw. I had bolts and used a socket. Put as little wd040 on it as you can. Then work the screw as much as you can, I had maybe 1/4 turn I could make back and forth. Then I let is sit for a while and when I came back I slowly had success. Then I did it again. Ha, I haven't switched the front plate yet it has 3 different screwheads, UGH. I would think the do that on the back not the front.
I suppose that’s the lucky thing for me is it’s only the back lol.

Is it a Jetta by chance?
Nah. Mazda 3.
can you grab it w a pair of vice grips?
I’ve tried it with just a pair of pliers. Unfortunately I don’t have a lot of tools at my disposal.

I’ll give that a shot too. At this point I wish I would’ve let the dealership just do it since it’s a lot easier to find screws.
License plates are soft aluminum. You can cut them off the screws and get better access to the screws.
It’s just the screws that are the problem. I don’t have the plate on yet.
Jam those holes over the screws and slide sideways.
Angle grinder and or zip wheel. My 10 yo can rip stuff up, well taught. If that doesn't work get a 3# hammer and cold chisel

How stripped? Place a wide rubber band in between the screwdriver and the stripped screw head, then apply hard, but slow force as you turn the screw. The rubber band should grip the stripped screw head and allow you to extract the screw.
