Don't you have Google Maps where you are?

I don't use a phone when I am driving, and here in LA the radio news is ahead of Google Maps anyway. I think the news is great, it connects people to the country and world

The news isn't ahead of Google maps. Maps is literally live as long as other people have phones in their car with the app on their phone. Which you guessed it even if 1/2 of the people have the app it will still give very accurate information as it tracks everything.

This is correct. I am a route driver and never has the radio been ahead of google maps. Matter of fact, more times than not, if it is a low/medium traffic impacting accident its cleared up before the radio even announces it!

In Australia we can put our phone in a holder, and use it as a live GPS. It's fantastic for early warning of crashes, roadworks, speed cameras, etc.

Just use a holder and put on Waze. That shit never lies. It's definitely ahead of what the news is reporting. I don't even listen to the news anymore for traffic broadcasts since the app is pretty much live. The only thing it's not good at is if there is new construction that hasn't been detected yet.

Waze is lame. It takes you through all kinds of residential neighborhoods you have no real business being in. I still like the news

It is still a more optimal route than you would do otherwise. There's been many times that I have questioned Waze for redirecting me through weird stuff, but every time I go against it, it's worse

I guess I'll just stick the highways and major streets where through traffic is supposed to be, and I'll leave the poor residents of my city alone
