I check CBC and NPR once a week to keep up. I also glance at Canadian and US political subs briefly each day. Only ever written articles, never audio or video. I think i have a healthy relationship with the news, but i do know there are plenty of people who fall into the fear/anger trap and are glued to it through most of their free time.
