I think there's a balancing act here. Only listening to the people on your immediate circle is dangerous as it can create an echo chamber of ideas. And to ignore other countries issues when the world is so intertwined is ridiculous.

I do agree that spending time arguing with people online is potentially wasteful. But take the information in, learn from it, and broaden your mind

Big problems in other countries can affected you and you should inform you about the subject because of this. Like buying cheap shirts hurts people in other places so you should know and learn abou this. I just see so much people that live outside of the USA and are all in on the newest hunter biden story, MnM mascot, gas stoves and some drag shows for Example. Or People talking about unimportant things Greta thunberg did but not about the environment.

Yeah those things with the M&Ms and stuff is absurd. People just need to learn how to filter out the crap.

That's still an incredibly small demographic of the population. If I include every single person I know to the point I would have any form of discussion regarding with them it would be 100 at absolute max. That's roughly .00000001 of the world's population. Also how is the Internet different from radio or news shows or anything else

You mean stay in your little bubble and only believe what the mainstream media feed you? You think things happening in other parts of the world don't affect you? I feel sorry for you.

I think i dont really need to know what happens to a sweets mascot in america i didnt meant you shouldn't inform you about the world. Also it is extremely important to have input of other people that dont agree with you. But i talk with some right wing dudes at work about economic to get this.

I've never heard Avatar talked about in real life, only on the internet. It isn't important.

Wow and NOPE! So many of us are insulated within our family, friend, faith, or work relationships that we may never be exposed to issues that affect others. I am not suggesting that what one reads here or other places on the internet is accurate, but it can introduce us to ideas, issues, and dilemmas that we may need to know about or vote on.
