I have a hip problem and have been trying to sleep on my back with no success. I'm gonna give this a try tonight! Thanks for sharing!

One thing to be mindful of is the pillow you use and your neck. The pillow you use (under your head) when you sleep on your side may be too thick/firm, sleeping with head at an angle can lead to neck pain.

Good luck! It took a couple of nights to get used to it but it worked like magic

I have arthritis in my hips, and this is pretty much exactly how I sleep (the pillows are stacked 2-3 high though). The trick (for me) is finding the exact right angle and amount of support for my legs (the pillows at my sides/under my arms just make me feel like I’m in a cozy little cocoon). This helps me, I hope it helps you too.

Hi, I'm a 62 year old guy and I bought a pregnancy pillow, 4 years ago. For Just this reason, it worked wonders. It's like a big cocoon that surrounds you. It's very adjustable to your liking by adding or removing stuffing from anywhere around the pillow shape. Looks like a big ole pillow horseshoe. The included cover unzips and is washable. I can't believe more men don't know about this. I told my mailman and he got one, says he sleeps way better with a lot less tossing and turning.

Glad you found something that works! I used to sleep with an arm under my head and it caused pain. Now I bring the side pillows a bit higher on each side of my face and rest my head on them. Couldn’t believe that did the trick!

Yes, definitely worth it, but they are not all made the same. Some can still be too hard, soft, high, low, etc, so can still involve some trial and error.

I had to do this when i seperated my collar bone. The pillows make a big difference, not only in comfort, but they help keep you on your back as well.

Finally I can use all the extra pillows I have. As a side/stomach sleeper, I'll try this

Is there something inherently wrong with sleeping on your sides? I’ve slept on my sides for my entire life and can never fall asleep if I sleep in any other position.

pinacolada12345 OP t1_j5vxu5k wrote

Not at all! All positions have pros and cons. Biggest drawback is possible shoulder pain but most people might never develop it . It could be actually beneficial for your back to sleep on your side, depending on your situation.

I’ve actually noticed that over the years (I’m currently 21), my nose has become slightly crooked towards one side and it seems like my face has become slightly asymmetrical. It’s not noticeable and it isn’t bothering me but I never really understood why. Could me sleeping on mostly one side have skewed my facial structure?

Yes, sleeping on your back is one of the things my esthetician rants about

Actually snoring is bad for your health and if you have this problem, sleeping like that makes It worse

If your snoring is that bad, I highly recommend getting tested for sleep apnea. Do you wake up tired, yawn during the day, have need for napping? CPAP machine can change your life!
