Totally agree. I don't answer any unknown calls. Text me or leave a message if it is your first time contacting me. If not, then it must not be important.

Also, delete old VM. We can't leave messages if the mailbox is full.

If I get a call from an unknown number and there’s no message I automatically block that number. I hope none of them were calling to tell me I had inherited a bunch of money or something.

Lol exactly this! I get constant spam calls/texts now every time my phone rings I get anxiety and let the call go to voicemail and hop on Google to check the number smh

If you don't leave a message then I'm going to assume you didn't think the call was important enough. Or you're a robot.

If you're already a Count, would it matter?

If I don't leave a message, I don't want a call back.

If I did, I would have left a message.

Or, if you are calling someone's cell phone, send a text. Just a quick "Hi Arthur, this is Slartibartfast. Calling to ask if you have seen the mice." Or whatever.

If you really need to reach the person, do both, especially if you are not sure their age. Younger people (based on my experience) tend not to listen to voicemails, and older people sometimes are not comfortable texting. This is less true than it was a few years ago, but can still be applicable depending on the individual.

Don't bother, I'm not listening to them, anyway. In fact, I turned them off completely. People who actually need to talk to me will try again or reach me another way. If my research into the number shows it as part of a company I should know I'll call back.

I do but sometimes the voice messages say “I am not even going to listen to your message but leave it if you want” and I hang up and don’t waste any more air talking to them.

better yet, text me so i don't have to deal with voice mail.

Where do they find the male voice, for "THIS IS THE POLICE FINANCIAL ARM OF THE POLICE SURVIVING SPOUSE ORG." (i know all caps is yelling) But in all reality, all have been warned, this is a scam ! Yet 2 times a month, i need to hang up on this SCREAMING caller. (Never had him, on my voicemail.

lucky me, I don’t have the VM. It’s been disabled by my service provider at my request.

Text me, identify your self and wait for my call. If you are important in my life, I’ll call you back. If not, don’t call me ever again ( consider your number is added to a blocked number list which will never-ever ring again to my phone)

I pay for the services and persons important to me, not the other way around. It’s that simple!

Doctors' offices can not leave protected health information on an unidentified answering machine, so unless you want to play phone tag with your clinic, please state your name in your answering machine's message and clear old messages.

Or better yet, sign up for your clinic/hospital's patient portal system, if possible.

Call once, call twice, leave a message. This is not something a computer does.

As someone who work in sales where I had to call people. No shot I would leave a voicemail. No one ever calls back I wouldn’t even call back. I’m more likely to answer the phone and make a decision on if I am going to hang up
