But then how will I read the story of how their great-grandfather's cousin barber used to make this particular apple pie and .... zzzzz

I read somewhere that they do that to squeeze as many ads in as possible, which makes sense. But I haven’t substantiated that claim so naturally I’m doing the responsible thing by spreading it as a rumor on the internet

I don't understand why Google doesn't just fix their algorithm to penalize recipe pages for doing stuff that nobody likes.

SpookyGeek t1_j6fwg9x wrote

Most also have a jump to recipe button.

Dull_Lavishness7701 t1_j6g1i6d wrote

Yeah but sometimes that button doesn't work out sometimes even actually take you to the recipe but more preamble to scroll past then finally the recipe

Use the print recipe button instead. All the sites I've used, it brings you to a separate page and most of them have a scaling feature as well.

Wait. I'm confused. You don't want to hear the story about the author being raised on a small farm? Their great grandmother was the matriarch who immigrated from Poland and has passed her pierogi recipe down to future generations. By skipping that, you'll miss the most critical part...how their childhood memories included walking into their grandparents adjacent house with the warmth and smell of goulash filling the air.

If it doesn't have the jump to recipe button I'll go somewhere else that does.

I don't have to live like an animal.

Thanks for this, I feel if I start at the top it’s a biography of the authors life starting pre-womb.

I hate those stories. Just give the darn recipe

Just use the Recipe Filter extension (in Chrome). Pops the actual recipe up as soon as you hit the page.

If I have 2 different sizes of tablespoons and 15 totally different teaspons, which one should I use?

The one that's an actual measuring spoon

None of my spoons is imperial-measurement-certified.

Then maybe you shouldn't try to use them to measure

I am non-American using grams and liters, but also tea spoon and table spoon.

Just not cups nor lbs/floz.

How have I never thought of this.

"This family recipe for artisanal mac'n cheese has been passed down through generations. On cold winter nights there's nothing better than blah blah, blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah, blah blah, blabla. Boil macaronis put in cheese."

Or you can just never go to any site that prefaces a recipe with 11TB of gibberish.

Gargomon251 t1_j6j2jcj wrote

If you can't find the recipe within the first page you're using the wrong website

If you have Paprika 3, you can copy the URL into that and get just the facts, ma'am. Caution: some sites like ATK have silly-ass protection against this so you'll get a bogus recipe.
