Brake as long and hard as you can, but If you are going to hit it, get off the brakes a good second before you do. That raises the front of your car and lowers the chance of it crashing through your windshield.
100% True. It goes beyond deer. Anything that is driving in front a vehicle has made a Darwinian choice. Unless it is a very heavy animal (moose, cow, etc.) hit it and forgive yourself later. One of my siblings flipped a car in order to avoid a rabbit one time. Very dumb decision.
Deer are big, stupid animals that look good in movies, taste bad when you eat them, and cause billions in car damage. Humans eliminated most of their predators and provided them (in the MidWest) with endless buffet of grain. Fuck 'em.
