You’re doing it right. Bring the water to a boil, then add salt. I would put both the salt and pasta right next to the pot as u wait for it to boil. ALWAYS salt your pasta water, no matter what the box says.

Because if you don’t salt the water you will have bland unseasoned pasta. Dried pasta is just semolina flour and water, egg pasta just flour and egg.
