They're decent. Probably one of the better downtown diners.

The 'diner experience' is a big part of what makes the food taste so good. The smell. The noise. The ritualized waiter interactions. I don't think I would enjoy eating Diner Food out of a styrofoam container while watching Netflix in my shitty apartment. I crave the smell of hot grease in the air.

They are fantastic. Also the club diner has some pretty awesome hours if you want a late night spot. I was impressed when I found myself there at 2:00am one night.

Sadly, my only memory of this place is how baad the home fries were, everyone I know raves over it

I love the owl in theory but, intentionally or not, we got served food with soap in it once years ago and we never went back.

Not the kind of impression you get over, even if it was a mistake. :/

I love the home fries. They are ridiculously greasy tho. I know a guy that went there a few times a week for breakfast. His doctor said his colesterol was wicked high, so he stopped going but kept eating everything else he normally would(KFC, McDonald's, etc. and his cholesterol went right back to normal.

Owl is awesome! but don't forget to try out the following for great breakfasts:

  • Elliots (yes, the hot dog place... they have breakfasts for like $7 including coffee)
  • Pawtucketville Diner (can be a long wait but the food is great)
  • Wham's Cafe (Kenyan!)
  • Club Diner near Shell downtown
  • Connector Café by Lowe's (lots of healthy options)

I'm sure I'm forgetting some...

I drive past it all the time, but I’ve never been. I’ll have to add it to the list.

Gormley’s in downtown is amazing!

Arthur’s Diner on Bridge St for a Bootmill Sandwich (egg, cheese, hash browns, and bacon / sausage / or ham, on a grilled bulkie roll)

Cameo Diner on Lakeview for a hangover sandwich (egg, cheese, corned beef hash, and potato).

If you have access to a car Deli King in Tewksbury is great! Cafeteria style, and full of elderly people. Hash is homemade and they make really good Ruebens and breakfast sandwiches

I worked there for many years and it will always have a special place in my heart. Food wise, it’s all about the ham slice and I personally love their meatloaf (I’m biased because I contributed to the recipe)z.

Just got married at the Owl last week. Go there every Saturday and Sunday.

Bobbola's on Lakeview Ave in Dracut is good.

Broken Yolk up on 38 in Pelham is nice. Maybe a little too clean to really be a diner, but they open pretty early.

ML Shaws by Dracut post office is another nice clean big place with a good counter.

This is sort of hard to articulate but: the person didn't feed me soap, the business and its systems did, and institutional memory is a thing. Like, even above "make a tasty meal" in your rules for running a restaurant should be "don't poison your customers."

Letting someone (or a business) feed you requires a one-way trust - only one of us can get sick from this arrangement after all - and one-way trusts are brittle.

The worker gets all the forgiveness in the world but I'm not going back to the business.

I also like Owl's and have purchased takeout from there and ate at home.

Has anyone tried the new cafe by the train station? It's called Dragonfly.

I had some avocado toast there and it was good, but haven't tried anything else.

I feel so stupid having lived in Lowell for 10 years and hung out here for 16 and have yet to set foot in Arthur's. I'm just literally never anywhere near there in the morning.

Granted, I'm also a very big guy, and that place looks so small at times I feel claustrophic thinking about it. :D

All really great, but don't sleep on the Connector Cafe. That place really surprised me, fantastic menu and super fast - and healthy options that I don't mind getting. I was so pumped when I stumbled on that spot.
