I’m sorry but this screams negligence. No humans were hurt okay but animals died. This snow was not that extreme.

There wasn't much depth, but it was heavy. I can see it catching people off guard.

The type of storm is literally named after this geographical region. Stupidity is not a defense. Property owners are responsible for maintaining structures.

Given the facts of how our system operates, I'd say allowing such buildings to deteriorate can be a shrewd business decision. By allowing these storms to do their worst while all people are at home means that only property will be damaged - which includes the livestock. The result of which is a sizable insurance payout. I can certainly see that being a profitable strategy.

We'll never know if that was the intent - unless the owner has loose lips.

It's a family owned and operated business. I'm going to give them the benefit of a doubt and suggest that they probably weren't intentionally risking the lives of their own family members.

Okay, so you're saying "storm's coming, all humans out."? I'm still inclined to give these guys the benefit of a doubt, but I can see that as a realistic thing that might happen somewhere.

I kind of agree with you? My point with mentioning GoFundMe as stated was to say don't do that. It seems like people set one up every time something happens and it just doesn't make any sense in the case of a business that's still open. If you like the business just support the business in the normal way: buy stuff.

Anyway, moot point: I guess someone approached the family with that idea and they said don't.

Also I can totally relate to not wanting to support a former employer.
