I'm moving to Lowell next week and I'm wondering if there are any running trails/paths in Lowell that get plowed when it snows. I made a similar post before regarding indoor running tracks and someone mentioned that the Minuteman trail is plowed. Unfortunately, that seems to be a little too far. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Following as I almost busted my ass a few times yesterday running on the road after some snow.

A great paved trail I have been using to run is the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail. It is NOT plowed in the winter unfortunately but is great otherwise. Welcome to Lowell!

My understanding is that the cemeteries are plowed. If you want a flat one, Edson is great. If you want hills, Lowell Cemetery or St. Patrick’s.

I started the idea of plowing the Riverwalk (Fox Hall to Memorial Auditorium) as a post on the FB group Lowell Live Feed. There's a couple of City Councilors who follow the dialogues there so we'll see if it gets any traction (pun unavoidable).

Worst case scenario: we could get together and shovel it.

So far the response has been a bunch of thumbs up, a couple of "they don't even take care of the sidewalks," and a couple of "they won't because they can't get salt in the river."

The Vandenberg Esplanade was plowed on Monday morning after the snow hit Sunday night. It's not a very long path but certainly a nice place to walk/run

I'm the person who suggested Minuteman and even on that I wasn't entirely on the money. Reports following the recent storm are that it was kind of spotty. Sorry.

Maybe around Umass Lowell since those sidewalks should be cleared for students
