My favorites are Swift River (French roast) and Carrabassett Valley (bad dog blend).

Carrabassett all day. Drives me crazy that most southern maine coffee places use CBD instead of Carrabassett.

I feel the quality of CDB coffee has gotten worse over the last couple years. A client has some relationship with them and drops of a bag from time to time. Same roast, whole bean, but so much worse now then 2 or 3 years ago.

Probably a scrub answer, because I haven't shopped around for anything fancy, but my local Hannaford has Wicked Joe beans and I really like their Sumatra, I drink it daily.

This, and not a scrub answer just because you aren’t buying it directly from an overpriced barista. The people at Wicked Joes are awesome. So is their coffee.

Who produces "Punch You In The Eye" dark roast?

Yeah, this is my guy. Normally buy at a farmer's market but during the winter I do the mail order. Roasts to order and I usually get the order the next day.

Carpe Diem in North Berwick. Sumatra and Thunderbolt Blend. And tons off flavored coffees.

They do mail order, but if you can get to the roaster it is heavenly to walk in smell the coffee.

I didn't realize ownership changed! Any idea when that happened?

Oh a ton of yrs ago. Doug and his wife were original owners. If I’m correct now three women on the company. Doug was really good at the time of roasting for each different coffee.

Pretty much everyone makes this claim. I have no reason to believe it is a false pitch; those that are not are just another starbucks place.

Specked Ax's Chickadee Decaf is one of the best I have ever had. I love all of their coffee's. The wood roasting really makes a big difference.

monsterscallinghome t1_jcy5tna wrote

Farm House Coffee Roaster in Winterport does a Dark Decaf that goes back & forth between Honduran and Guatemalan beans. Both are spectacular. My husband is a 20+ cup a day coffee guy, but Long Covid fucked his ability to process caffeine. FHCR's Dark Decaf scratches the coffee itch for him without sending his heart racing 'round the moon.
