Ayy that guy used to drive an old crown Vic and went to school at UMA when I did. Looks like he upgraded, good for him.
OriginalGordol t1_jd5ma23 wrote
So he want from one standard cop car to another.
Application-Bulky t1_jd9dinq wrote
I think he was just NOT COP. Probably got tired of people slowing down when he got behind them.

I remember that car! It was always at the Tim Hortons on western ave. It made me laugh.
BadLuckShoesie t1_jd5rrwt wrote
I know this license plate. It’s actually not a cop and owned by a certain security detail company. OP I’m guessing you saw this in York? The guy’s actually been a godsend for my mom and several others at times. He works at York Hospital so give him a break.
MacTechG4 t1_jd681h7 wrote
I’ve seen him around the York area, he’s definitely a nicer guy than the person who drives around the LIFTED P71 Crown Vic that looks like what happens when a P71 and a Police Explorer SUV love each other very much…

Guys wrong, though. Interceptor is superior in every way to the Town Car. There's a reason it's picked.
MacTechG4 t1_jd9j57h wrote
Agreed, the P71 is for someone who wants a simple, durable, reliable car that’s relatively cheap to fix, and has decent performance.
The Town Car is for someone who wants a La-Z-Boy on wheels and who doesn’t care about handling
Downside of both? The fuel mileage of a big V8
blutigetranen t1_jd9kg7p wrote
Exactly. I think the P71 also has a different engine tuning, better suspension, dual exhaust, better rear gear differential, different and torquier torque converter.
MacTechG4 t1_jd9nh3n wrote
If I;
A; didn’t hate automatics so much
B; didn’t want to pay for the fuel mileage penalty of a V8
C; didn’t prefer a usable cabin like a wagon/hatchback …
I’d have seriously considered a P71, and I have no desire to ‘be a cop’, I just appreciate a dead simple body on frame chassis and rear wheel drive (especially in the winter ;) )
blutigetranen t1_jd9pdmo wrote
I used to hate automatic as well but it's getting to a point where standard is non existent

As someone who drives a car that people constantly mistake for a cop car, I've thought about this myself. There's nothing more annoying than when you're trying to do 15mph over the speed limit, and the person in front of you thinks you're there to pull them over.
95forever t1_jd851zy wrote
Apparently the presence of cop looking cars promotes safer driving. In all honesty it’s pretty easy to tell during the day if it’s a cop or not. But at night your kinda guessing
iBarber111 t1_jd8yp93 wrote
If you buy one of these cars, you're a cop at least in spirit. Blows my mind why a civilian would want to drive this. I don't care how good the price was at the auction - give me literally anything else.
ISeeDeadDaleks t1_jd90guh wrote
Thank you! In my mind the only type of people who buy ford explorers these days are cop wannabes. It freaks me out. If you want a large suv buy one of the many options from the zillion other carmakers. They’re probably more reliable too.
iBarber111 t1_jd90ziu wrote
Yeah unlike a lot of police departments, you're not bound by a requirement to buy American 😂 - although some people do self-impose that rule. Basically every car on the market nowadays is an SUV - you've got endless uncoplike options.
OriginalGordol t1_jd5m59i wrote
I've seen that one around. I once saw it in downtown Biddeford.

Everyone knows that if they are a cop they have to tell us. It is just like with mimics.
