A wildlife rehab vet once told me that every porcupine she ever treated had multiple long-healed fractures. They fall out of trees, a lot. They are durable critters, except when the fishers show up.

My dogs love getting pricked. A few times every year. Already had one run in this season. Needless to say, the ER vet loves us $$$$

We’ve got one in our yard too, hangs out with us early spring and late fall. Could probably walk right up to him and pet him on the head if he wasn’t.. a porcupine
