Well, unless you count overloaded logging trucks driving on posted roads. That'll raise some dramatic hackles.

One day I heard a big racket on the edge of my property. About 30 seconds later, a fox came running through the woods with a flock of crows on its heels. They kept going and I could hear them for the next 2 or 3 minutes.

This is the winner.

I once had a coyote howl mere feet from my head as I lay in bed at 3am. That was pretty dramatic. I was virtually paralyzed for about 15 minutes.

Not much drama. Held a trespasser at shotgun point totally naked after he missed 4 huge no trespass signs. Years ago. No drama since except my own.

I was naked. I live in the woods. You had to drive a ways too get there. No idea why that dude ignored every sign on his way in. Needless to say he and his kid were surprised

Once in a while, we look at local crime logs and find the most ridiculous incidents. My favorite is compressed below: “PCSO had been involved with a pursuit with a motorcycle, and the operator had fled into the woods. A K9 track was conducted, and K9 Odin located a helmet and riding gloves belonging to the operator. The track continued for several miles… During the track, K9 Odin located the suspects pants, riding jacket, riding pants, a sweatshirt and a rolled-up dollar bill with a lighter (at different points throughout the track). K9 Odin brought the team to the area of the Cardville Rd. where the track was lost. Information was obtained by a citizen that a man in his underwear had been seen coming out of the woods and getting into a vehicle in the area about 30-40 minutes before.”

We also had a couple major drug busts in nearby areas lately so possibly related. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Unexpected Jake Brakes is a traumatic condition

Now that I know more about what can happen to people when their livestock escapes (civil violations, restitutions for damaged property) I find escape stories really stressful.

I used to live in a much more densely populated area (although still considered rural) and I always had neighbor drama to report to my husband during the workday. Since I’ve move to “the woods” most of my text messages have revolved around turkeys, deer, and moose. What makes the limited incidents that occur out here so remarkable is that they are so remarkable and rare 😂. The stuff that makes police log news out here wouldn’t even be on police logs in more densely populated areas.

I once looked up from my book to see a bear looking in the window, right above my "guard" dogs' heads as they slept through the whole thing.

My favorite was a local paper had a notice some fella posted looking for his lost pet raccoon. Right next to it was a notice another gentleman posted saying he had a raccoon coat for sale. The editor must have gotten a chuckle out of the placement. And yes, I am old and this was a while back.

No doubt. And when they teeter down the road falling into potholes and jumping with the frost heaves while you're either behind them or coming the other way, that'll cause some drama and trauma.

That's a really good one.

I once saw an eagle swoop down and grab a baby merganser chick out of the lake. For some reason the eagle dropped it back into the lake and I watched it flounder around for a minute or two until a seagull came along and ate it. I was sobbing and yelling "No!" the entire time. That was more trauma than drama though.

Traffic got backed up with everyone slowing down to look at the stray ass.

My car was attacked by 3 geese while on my way to work. 1 was at the hood of my car and the other 2 were at my passenger side wheelwell which prevented me from moving forward. I was 15 minutes late for work. My boss said I didn't need to make up such an elaborate excuse. 🙄🙄🙄😫😫😫

My in-laws and their neighbors can’t quite agree on where the property line is.

I lived in Brunswick- too populated. Moved to Gray- much better. Charming, it still a little cityish. Moved to Baldwin and I friggin love it! Areas of Baldwin can have close neighbors but I live on a road with no neighbors that can be seen or heard. Usually wildlife stuff is my action for the day now. I know Irma not as rural as northern Maine, but compared to what I’ve seen so far- I’ll take it every day
