Sounds good until you have a disabled child that isn't capable. Or any child that isn't capable. Not every teen can thrive or even survive without supervision.

Schools have to accommodate everyone's needs, not just the able.

Exactly. Starting later also doesn't account for the fact that they would essentially need to double the amount of busses and drivers because the busses wouldn't be able to do high schools first then middle and elementary students. While also only paying thkse drivers for one trip making bus driver and even less desirable job.

Of course, you are correct. I guess I was speaking to those that can self supervise, and should. Absolutely understand that there are those who cannot.
