Check your pantry, they may have infested something in there. If not, you're good to go, they're completely harmless.

No, they are harmless. I was concerned when they showed up in the fall last year. I rescued the first few I found toodling around my sink, but a lot of them came into my basement. They were attracted to the nightlight I had up for my cats. The worst thing they do is die.

Statistically speaking, any bug you can’t identify is most likely a beetle.

That could be an oak weevil, they look very similar to cotton boll weevils but they have a white dot behind their head. I used to work for the Texas Department of Agriculture trapping and eradicating them in the cotton fields.
