I’ve been there (not BIW) but teaching and work in construction. Trades can earn you a lot but you have to work your way up, get or have skills like welding.
My dad was a plumber for many years and could make real good money but it was far more than 40 hours a week and it abused his body. Travel can be a pain too.
Teaching is hard for a lot of reasons not the least of which is that having few tangible signs of success. With things like construction or mechanical work you get to see results.
Wish I had an easy answer for you. Look for other districts that pay better. You’re not going to get rich teaching but the grass isn’t always greener.
