Hopefully you learned not to try to keep a dog in an electric fence, and put up a real fence.

I ended up leaving with my kids a few months later and he kept the dog(s) they were his before... but no fence was never put up it was an HOA and wasn't allowed anyway

I still feel awful that happened to that family and did my best to make right at the time
