I tried to read as many comments as I could. Obviously the sheriff is correct, all contact thru them and AC. Shoot the dog if need be. HOWEVER, you may be able to avoid litigation… Have the AC or sheriff get the home owners insurance info, file a claim thru them. You may even be able to have your Insurance pay and go after the owner to collect.
