FYI…

  • RTS, Refused, Deceased, NOT at this address ONLY works for first class mail.

Examples of First class mail - presorted first class, forever/first class stamp, metered, priority, special endorsed

The endorsements consist of one keyword: “Electronic,” “Address,” “Return,” “Change,” or “Forwarding,” followed by the two words “Service Requested.”

Examples of Non-first class mail - marketing/junk, presorted STD, presorted standard stamp, “or current resident”, EDDM/ECRWSS/ECRWSH, charity, political, non-profit

  • Return to sender can be confusing to USPS as well as return sender - is the individual deceased, have they moved, is the mailer being refused.

It is best to give a reason why first class mailer is being returned - DECEASED (family members only), NOT at this address, Refused, etc.
